LA RASPA: Roots, Rhythm & Rhyme After School Program in the Arts

Back by popular demand, the Global Education Center is retooling and resurrecting its popular afterschool arts program. Combining elements of its Roots, Rhythm and Rhyme School Outreach Program and its Summer Multicultural Arts Camp, LA RASPA will bring the arts of the world to underserved children and youth, incorporating dance, percussion, crafts and poetry from around the world. Qualifying students will be able to study the arts at the low cost of $1 per lesson; or they can register for unlimited classes for $25 per quarter. Other students may drop in to take classes for $5 per class.

This program will begin on September 13 and run in 10 week sessions. Charlie Gilbert will serve as after school director and can be reached at carlos@globaleducationcenter.net

Mondays Polysian Dance 4 pm; Polynesian Drum 5 pm
Tuesdays African Dance 4 pm; African Drum 5 pm
Wednesdays Hip Hop Dance 4 pm; Bucket Drumming 5 pm
Thursdays Mexican Folkloric Dance 4 pm; Cuban Drum 5 pm

Camp director is also available for tutoring in Spanish and English. Private tutoring for $20 per hour

English/Spanish language classes Tuesday and Thursday 7 pm
ESL classes Monday and Wednesday 6 pm
